The idea
The revised taxonomy adds a knowledge dimension, factual, conceptual, procedural and metacognitive knowledge, and any cognitive process, from remembering to creating, can pair with any type of knowledge.
In practice
Recalling the steps of long division pairs remember with procedural knowledge; judging one's own study plan pairs evaluate with metacognitive knowledge.

The 1956 taxonomy had one dimension; the 2001 revision has two.
