The Pygmalion Study

The idea
Teacher expectations can become self-fulfilling prophecies. In Rosenthal and Jacobson's 1968 Pygmalion study, teachers were told that randomly chosen students would bloom intellectually, and those students later gained more on an IQ test.
In practice
A label from a test, not the child, set the teacher's expectation.
Where people slip
The study is famous and debated, so its effect needs bounds.
