Bronfenbrenner's Systems
Captions available
The idea
Bronfenbrenner's ecological model nests a child in systems: the microsystem of family, school and peers; the mesosystem, the links between them; the exosystem; and the macrosystem.
In practice
A parent–teacher conference is part of the mesosystem, connecting home and school.
Where people slip
The exosystem holds settings the child is not in that still affect them, such as a parent's workplace; the chronosystem adds timing.
