Grade-Equivalent Scores
Captions available
The idea
A grade-equivalent score estimates, from a trend line, the grade level whose typical student would earn a given raw score; such scores are often misinterpreted.
In practice
A fourth grader scoring 6.0 on a fourth-grade test did very well on fourth-grade work, not sixth-grade work.
Where people slip
A grade equivalent is not a placement recommendation.
