The idea
The cloud holds data, software, and services that run on the Internet instead of on a local computer — capacity rented from elsewhere, reached from anywhere.
In practice
A phone with a full photo library and no full disk is living the definition.
Where people slip
Elsewhere is a real computer in a real building someone else runs.
