College Composition / Unit 5   CMP 0110 short lesson, about 20 seconds

Case in Compounds

Captions available

The idea

In a compound subject, use subjective pronouns; in a compound object, use objective pronouns.

In practice

"Antonio and I share an apartment," but "Disagreements arise between Antonio and me." Drop the other person to test: "between me" sounds right.

Where people slip

"Between you and I" is a common error; between takes an object, so it is between you and me.
