Absolute Value Equations

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

For positive k, the equation |X| = k splits into X = k or X = −k; a negative k means no solution — distance is never negative.

Show

|2x − 1| = 7 splits: 2x − 1 = ±7, giving x = 4 or −3. Both check at distance 7.

Builds on

  • Nothing — this is a starting point.

Unlocks

  • Nothing yet depends on this.
