Response to Stimuli
Captions available
The idea
Living organisms respond to stimuli from their environment, moving toward some and away from others.
In practice
A Mimosa plant folds its leaves inward when touched, and a houseplant bends its stem toward a sunlit window.
Where people slip
A response toward a stimulus and a response away from one are both responses — only the direction differs.
