Glycogen Storage and Mobilization

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

Excess glucose is converted to glycogen and stored in liver and muscle, then broken back down to glucose, spending ATP, per Bio 0508, when blood sugar drops.

Show

Long-distance running draws on stored muscle glycogen once immediately available blood glucose runs low.

Watch for

Glycogen storage is limited — once full, further excess glucose converts to fat instead.
