Inductive Reasoning
Captions available
The idea
Inductive reasoning draws a general conclusion from a pattern across many specific observations.
In practice
A biologist who scans hundreds of brain images during one task and concludes that one brain region handles it is reasoning inductively.
Where people slip
Inductive conclusions are supported by the pattern, never guaranteed by it — the next observation could break it.
