Habitat Isolation

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

Habitat isolation is a prezygotic barrier in which two populations occupy different habitats within the same broader range, rarely encountering each other.

Show

Two cricket species preferring different soil types can live close together yet remain habitat-isolated, rarely occupying the same patch of ground.

Watch for

Habitat isolation does not require geographic distance — populations can be habitat-isolated while living only meters apart.
