Analyzing and Interpreting Literature / Unit 9 AIL 0838 short lesson, about 20 seconds
The Inference Question

The idea
An inference question asks what follows from the passage without being stated in it. The answer must be supported by the text and must not go beyond it. Unit one's overstatement trap lives here: the option that infers most is rarely the option the lines support.
In practice
Supported, and no further.
Where people slip
The boldest inference is usually wrong.
