The idea
The disapproving side needs scathing, contemptuous, derisive, censorious and indignant. They differ in heat and in target. Indignant claims a wrong has been done; contemptuous claims the target is beneath notice. The distinction between those two is frequently the whole question.
In practice
Scathing, contemptuous, derisive, indignant.
Where people slip
Indignant and contemptuous are not near.
