Sometimes the Modern Sense Is Right

The idea
The rule is not that old passages always mean something else. Most words in a period passage carry the sense you expect. Treating every word as a trap wastes the time the question type is meant to save. Suspicion is a tool for the words the sentence resists.
In practice
Most words mean what they seem to.
Where people slip
Over-suspicion costs as much as carelessness.
