The idea
Disguise gives the audience knowledge the characters lack, which is dramatic irony arranged by costume. Twelfth Night, complete in the anchor, is built on it, and unit fifteen takes that play up. The device is comic in structure whatever tone it carries.
In practice
Irony arranged by costume.
Where people slip
Unit fifteen takes Twelfth Night.
