Faustus's Last Hour

Captions available

The idea

Marlowe gives Faustus a soliloquy in the hour before his damnation. The clock strikes eleven as the scene opens, and he begins that he has but one bare hour to live and then must be damned perpetually. The speech is timed from its first line.

In practice

One hour, and a clock already struck.

Where people slip

The speech is timed from the start.
