Comedy, as the Anchor Defines It
Captions available
The idea
The glossary defines comedy as a form of drama characterised by some sense of optimism, fellowship, love and good humour. Note it is not defined by being funny. Comedy in this sense names a shape and an outlook, and a comedy can contain very little laughter.
In practice
An outlook, not a joke count.
Where people slip
Comedy does not mean funny.
