Where a Thesis Sits

The idea
The anchor's argument chapter says the writer presents the thesis in the opening paragraph and then a series of body paragraphs supported by sources. In printed extracts the thesis is often in the first or last sentence, and reading both before the middle is the efficient order.
In practice
First sentence, last sentence, then the rest.
Where people slip
The anchor puts it in the opening.
