Anne Bradstreet sailed on the Arbella with her husband Simon and her father Thomas Dudley, both officers of the colony. She wrote from childhood in ambitious forms, including quaternions on the four elements, humors, ages and seasons, learning from Sidney, Spenser and Donne.
