American Literature / Unit 19 AML 1808 short lesson, about 20 seconds
The Interpretation Band and How to Practise It

The idea
Thirty-five to forty percent of questions ask you to understand and interpret short poems, excerpts from long poems, and excerpts from prose. This is the largest single demand and it needs no author identification at all. Practise it by reading passages cold.
In practice
The largest demand asks for no names.
Where people slip
Two-fifths of the exam is reading, not recall.
