*Four Quartets* and the Later Eliot
Captions available
The idea
After converting to Anglicanism, Eliot wrote Four Quartets, four long meditative poems each named for a place and each working through time, memory and religious patience. The voice is quieter than the earlier work and the difficulty is philosophical rather than fragmentary.
In practice
Four places, and a quieter voice.
Where people slip
The late work turns religious, and slows.
