The idea
Pound's two-line poem of nineteen thirteen sets the apparition of faces in a crowd beside petals on a wet black bough, with no verb and no comparison stated. He described cutting it down from a much longer draft, and the compression is the demonstration.
In practice
Two lines, and no verb between them.
Where people slip
The comparison is placed, never asserted.
