Multiplying and Dividing Rational Expressions

The idea
To multiply rational expressions, factor, cancel common factors, and multiply numerators and denominators. To divide, multiply by the reciprocal of the divisor.
In practice
(x/(x + 1)) ÷ (x²/(x + 1)) = (x/(x + 1)) · ((x + 1)/x²) = 1/x.
