ACT Preparation / Unit 6   ACT 0511 short lesson, about 20 seconds

Pointing Words Fix a Sentence's Place

Captions available

The idea

Pronouns and words such as this, these, such, also and another point back to something already named. A sentence containing them must come after the thing they point to.

In practice

"These delays cost the city millions" must follow a sentence that names the delays.

Where people slip

Pointing words are placement clues. Find what each one refers to, and the sentence's position follows.
