The idea
A phrase built from a weak verb and a noun can often become one action verb: give consideration to becomes consider, and make an improvement becomes improve.
In practice
"The board will conduct an investigation of the costs" becomes "The board will investigate the costs."
Where people slip
Watch for make, give or conduct paired with a noun that hides a verb.
