Product, Quotient and Power Rules

The idea
The log of a product is the sum of the logs, of a quotient the difference, and of a power the exponent times the log.
In practice
log₂ 32 = log₂ 4 + log₂ 8 = 2 + 3 = 5.
Where people slip
log(x + y) is not log x + log y; the rules work on products, not sums.
