The idea
When b > 1, the function grows: each step multiplies the output by more than 1. When 0 < b < 1, it decays toward zero. The base alone decides which.
In practice
200(1.5)ˣ grows; 200(0.5)ˣ halves at every step: 200, 100, 50, 25.
Where people slip
Decay never reaches zero; it only approaches it.
