Erasmus Corrects the New Testament

Captions available

The idea

Erasmus, fourteen sixty-six to fifteen thirty-six, a philologist in Latin, Greek and some Hebrew, retranslated the New Testament against the Vulgate and urged vernacular Bibles. In Praise of Folly satirized corruption; the Handbook of the Christian Soldier de-emphasized the sacraments.

In practice

A personal piety at odds with Church structures.

Where people slip

His claim about witches as a mistranslation is the anchor's report. Attribute.
