Anticipatory socialization is the learning a person does in advance of a role they expect to occupy, rehearsing it before entering.
In practice
A student watches how practitioners speak and dress years before qualifying.
Where people slip
Rehearsal is often inaccurate, and the correction on arrival is itself further socialization.
