Stimulus discrimination is responding to the conditioned stimulus and not to similar stimuli that were never paired.

A dog trained with only one tone followed by food stops responding to the neighboring tones.

Watch for

Discrimination requires the similar stimuli to occur without the unconditioned stimulus. Absence of pairing is the teacher.
