Sleep Apnea

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

Sleep apnea is a disorder in which breathing stops repeatedly during sleep, producing brief arousals the sleeper does not recall.

Show

A patient reports sleeping nine hours and feeling exhausted, and a recording shows dozens of interruptions hourly.

Watch for

The complaint is daytime exhaustion, not disturbed sleep. Patients usually do not know their sleep is broken.
