Diminishing Marginal Product
Captions available
The idea
Adding workers to a fixed input eventually adds less output with each one: the law of diminishing marginal product. The cause is the fixed input, which each new worker must share.
In practice
Five bakers around one oven get in each other's way.
Where people slip
Diminishing is not negative: output still rises, by less. Only a crowded enough kitchen makes the next worker cut output.
