The Prince and the Cobbler

The idea
Locke's prince and cobbler: imagine the prince's memories and character waking in the cobbler's body—intuition says the prince now lives there. Bodies seem to lose.
In practice
Every body-swap story since runs on the same intuition: we follow the mind, not the meat.
