Affect and Mood

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

Mood names a person's sustained emotional state; affect names the emotional expression an observer sees.

Show

A record may note that mood and affect are consistent with one another, or that they are not.

Watch for

Mood is reported by the person; affect is observed by another. The two are recorded separately.
