The idea
Effect size expresses how much an intervention changed an outcome: the difference between the post-intervention and pre-intervention means, divided by the average standard deviation.
In practice
Two group means and their spread, combined into one figure for the size of the change.
Where people slip
Effect size answers how much, which a significance test does not. Unit 06 made that distinction and it holds here.
