Structure Measures

Captions available

The idea

Structure measures describe what a setting has: staffing, skill mix, qualifications and equipment. Nurse indicators include how many staff hold particular degrees and specialty certifications.

In practice

A count of specialty-certified nurses on a unit, recorded as a structure measure.

Where people slip

Structure is the easiest of the three to count and the furthest from the patient.
