Captions available
The idea
Marlowe's pastoral lyric opens, "Come live with me and be my love," promising a shepherd's pleasures. Sir Walter Raleigh, courtier and explorer, answered with "The Nymph's Reply": "If all the world and love were young," she might believe him, but time destroys every gift.
In practice
A pastoral offer, and a realist's refusal.
Where people slip
The reply answers point by point.
