"The Movement" was a term coined in nineteen fifty-four by the literary editor of The Spectator for a group including Larkin, Kingsley Amis, Donald Davie, Thom Gunn and Elizabeth Jennings, whose poems were collected in the anthology New Lines. They favoured clarity and traditional form.
