The idea
The Bloomsbury Group, centred in London's Bloomsbury district, included Virginia Woolf, her sister Vanessa Bell, E. M. Forster, Lytton Strachey and John Maynard Keynes. Strachey's Eminent Victorians, of nineteen eighteen, the anchor notes, punctured Victorian pretensions to superiority.
In practice
Writers, artists, an economist.
Where people slip
Bloomsbury mocked Victorian solemnity.
