Binet and the First Intelligence Test
Captions available
The idea
Alfred Binet, asked by the French government to find children who would struggle in regular classes, built with Théodore Simon the first intelligence test.
In practice
American psychologists adapted the Binet-Simon scale into the Stanford-Binet, still in use in revised form.
Where people slip
Binet stressed individual differences and urged that teachers be trained to observe them in their own students.
