Readiness

The idea

Readiness has two meanings: a student's preparedness for a school task, and the school's and teacher's readiness to adjust to the students they actually have.

In practice

A teacher adapts reading materials for a student who is not yet reading independently.

Where people slip

At older ages readiness is usually discussed as prerequisites, the knowledge a new task assumes.
