Computer Science / Unit 6 CS 0317 short lesson, about 20 seconds
The File System
Captions available
The idea
A file system defines file names, stores files on a storage device, and retrieves them — designed under pressure: most files are small, most space sits in large files, growth is unpredictable.
In practice
A billing archive of tiny invoices and giant ledgers is the design brief in miniature.
Where people slip
The pressures shape the design invisibly.
