Percent Ionization Defined

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

Percent ionization is the fraction of a weak acid's initial concentration ionized at equilibrium, and it rises as the acid is diluted even though Ka stays fixed.

Show

A 1.0 M and a 0.010 M solution of the same weak acid show different percent ionizations despite sharing one Ka.

Watch for

Percent ionization is not the acid's strength ranking — Ka is the concentration-independent measure.
