Collision Theory's Rate-Collision Proportionality

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

Collision theory holds that a reaction's rate is proportional to the rate at which its reactant particles collide.

Show

Raising a gas's concentration packs more particles into the same volume, increasing how often they collide and how fast they react.

Watch for

Concluding that any collision reacts, so rate should equal collision frequency, is wrong — most collisions fail from bad orientation or insufficient energy.
