Nephron Structure

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

The nephron, the kidney's functional unit, has a glomerulus that filters blood, a Bowman's capsule that collects filtrate, and a tubule system that processes it into urine.

Show

One human kidney holds roughly a million nephrons running this process in parallel.

Watch for

A nephron filters plasma, not whole blood — blood cells and large proteins stay behind in the vessel.
