Archaeal cell walls never contain peptidoglycan, building walls from pseudopeptidoglycan, polysaccharides, glycoproteins, or protein alone, depending on the species.
In practice
Pseudopeptidoglycan resembles peptidoglycan in structure but uses different sugars, making it resistant to enzymes that break down true peptidoglycan.
