Atomic Structure

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

An atom has a nucleus of protons and neutrons at its center, surrounded by electrons occupying the space around it.

Show

A proton carries a positive charge, a neutron none, and an electron a negative charge equal and opposite to a proton's.

Watch for

Nearly all of an atom's volume is empty space around the nucleus — mass is not spread evenly through it.
