The idea
The minimax value of a position is the score best play locks in from both sides: the most MAX can guarantee, the least MIN can concede.
In practice
One number, two meanings: a floor for one player, a ceiling for the other, met exactly when both play best.
Where people slip
The value assumes a capable opponent; against a blunderer it is a floor, not a forecast.
