Trap: Confusing Character With Narrator

Captions available

The idea

In free indirect passages an option may correctly describe the character's view and be offered as the narrator's, or the reverse. Both statements can be true of the same sentence and only one answers the question. Check which the question names before choosing.

In practice

Both can be true; one is responsive.

Where people slip
