Analyzing and Interpreting Literature / Unit 6   AIL 0539 short lesson, about 20 seconds

End Rhyme and Internal Rhyme

Captions available

The idea

End rhyme falls at the ends of lines; internal rhyme falls within a single line. The glossary has a headword for neither, so these are the standard senses. Position is the only difference, and the exam does ask which kind a quoted phrase shows.

In practice

At the line end, or inside it.

Where people slip

Both terms are absent from the glossary.
